In November 1931 John Rodgers Cowe and / or Robert P. Cowe, both from Edinburgh, started a detailed theatre log and books reading notebook. The pages, detail many UK national theatre productions of the era, dates when, presumably, they were attended and notes of book reading material.
The notebook says nothing about Robert or John, apart from their addresses in 1931. I have tried to research them, at the time of writing I have drawn a blank. John’s name has been crossed out strangely. The content makes good reading and shines a small, if mainly unrevealing, insight into these two gentlemen. Tempting, if somewhat frustratingly, reference is made at the end of the notebook, to the ‘next one’. It must be out there somewhere!
