The texture of everyday life gone by

John Marlow (1937-2003)

John Marlow was born on 26 April 1937 in Leicester, his father, Martin Edward Marlow (16 March 1905- 23 September 1975), was 32 and his mother, Andrey Minnie Hylda Marlow (nee Simpson) (12 May 1905-27 February 1989), was 31. He had one brother, Christopher (14 April 1943-1 June 1989), who was born in Leicester. John died on 26 July 2003 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, at the age of 66.

John was in hospital (Leicester Royal Infirmary) in 1954 and 1957, but was kept busy with a number of letters he received. It seems he made a few friends whilst on the ward as they kept in touch after John was discharged. His part of the collection contain letters written to his home in Leicester and to him in hospital from friends and relatives.
